Explains the meaning of bríath (DIL s. v. briad) as ‘remnant’ with the aid of an attestation in a hitherto unpublished marginal verse extant in BL Add. 30512 and RIA 23 Q 10 (text and translation provided), suggesting it results from an elaborate wordplay on bríathar.
